Global Template Widgets

Widgets are areas of the template outside of the content editor that can be edited globally. To edit a template widget go to Appearance > Widgets in the admin.

Widgets are used to run a global call to action across the bottom of a site, add sidebars to blog and article list templates, or display a custom footer.

Global Call to Action

A global call to action, such as an eNews sign-up form, donation links or partner logos, can be placed above the footer area, to display globally across the bottom of your site. To display the CTA, just add content to this widget. The CTA can be disabled on a per-page basis in the custom fields sidebar.

You can change the background color of this CTA in the Customize options under Theme Settings.

An example is at the bottom of this page and every page on this site.

Blog and Article List Sidebars

Global widget sidebars are only available on article lists and blog pages. All sidebars within other pages and posts can be created using the block editor with groups or columns.

An example is on the Blog sample page.

Note: Widget sidebars are no longer available for posts and pages.

Footer

This is a very special use-case widget for sites that require additional content in the footer area, usually for a partnership. Text and images should only be used here. Please contact the web team if you need to use this space.
