Customize
When logged into your site, you should see a “customize” option in your top nav. You can also access it in the lefthand admin sidebar under Appearance. The customize dashboard provides an easy way to quickly change your site’s settings.

Site Identity
Site Title
Allows users to set the website title without entering the dashboard.
Note: on multilingual sites, edit the site name in Languages > String Translations and edit “blogname” for all languages.
Site Icon
Change the favicon that shows up in the browser’s tab. The default is the Lab’s Sapsucker icon. Only change in special cases when a site has its own logo.
Theme Settings
Color Theme
Choose a main color theme for the website. This will transform the colors navigation active states and other design accents. The default is gold.
Page width
Set the default width for pages and posts (excluding the homepage and archive pages)
Related Posts
Toggle this option to show a list of related posts (by category) under each article. This is for posts only.
Show Date on Posts
Toggle the date to display below the article header on all posts that do not have hero images.
Global CTA Background Color
Change the background color for the Global CTA widget. Options are: Gold (default), Sand, Sand Neutral, Sky Blue, Sky Blue Tint

Header & Navigation
Header
Header Layout
Choose between a column or stacked layout for the site title and primary navigation. Use the stacked layout (bottom) when the site title is long or if there are more than four navigation items.
Site Name
Site name to show under the Cornell Lab logo.
Show Search
Toggle site search to the right of the primary navigation menu.

Logos
The Tech Team will assist with the set up of official Lab logo lock-ups.
Main Lab Logo
Primary product or center logo, if different than the Cornell Lab primary logo.
Logo Layout
Choose horizontal or stacked if this is a product or project logo. This will help with logo sizing.
Show Lab Logo
Toggle the Lab logo in the header. Note: disabling this will not disable the logo in the footer.

Partner Logos
Partner logos display on the top bar above the site name. Up to three logos can be added to this area.
By default, the Cornell Lab logo will also appear in the bar when partner logos are uploaded. This can be hidden with the “Show Lab Logo” option in the logos panel.
An example of a site using partner logos in the header is birdcount.org.
Logo
Upload the logo file. Recommended logo dimensions are horizontal at 300×60. It will display at half the size (no larger than 150×30 pixels).
Link
Add an optional link to the partner’s website.

Footer
Cornell Logo
Toggle the Cornell University logo in the footer. It is recommended to keep it ON.
Social URLs
Add relevant social links to the footer, below the contact menu. Just add the URL and the logo will show up automatically. Available logos include:
- Facebook (must contain facebook.com)
- Instagram (must contain instagram.com)
- LinkedIn (must contain linkedin.com)
- Twitter (must contain twitter.com)
- Vimeo (must contain vimeo.com)
- YouTube (must contain youtube.com)
- Pinterest (must contain pinterest.com)
Toggle to open the social links in a new browser tab.
Donate URL
Add a red donate button to the footer.
Custom Footer Copyright Text
Special use – only the Tech Team should change this.

Blog Layout
Change the default settings for blog, archive, search and category article list displays.
List Class – show articles as list or grid.
Number of Columns – Number of columns per row in the grid layout.
Posts per page – Number of posts to show on one page.
Show Excerpts – choose to show or hide excerpts.
Excerpt Length – length of words in excerpt when there is not an excerpt specified for an individual post.
Top/Bottom Attributes – choose to display attributes above or below the excerpt. Options includes: Date, Categories, Tags, and Content Format.
Default Featured Image – choose a default image to display if a post does not have a featured image set.

Sharing & Comments
Toggle social sharing options on pages and posts.
Add Pinterest to the sharing options (default is Facebook & Twitter)
Allow Comments on posts

Menus
Allows users to create new menus as well as add to existing menus without entering the dashboard.
Additional CSS
Web team only!
Allows custom CSS to be added to the site, typically by the web team. It is not recommended that CSS be added as it conflicts with the existing template styles.
CSS Class to add to Body tag – Allows the web team to target specific sites for styling in our main theme files. Do not update this text field or you can lose your custom styles.
